Though his special focus is hematologic malignancies, Dr. Caldera also treats patients with general medical oncology and hematology illnesses. As well, having completed a fellowship in blood and marrow transplantation, he’s able to evaluate patients that are candidates for autologous and allogenic stem cell transplants and to treat transplant-related complications. Dr. Caldera keeps strong connections with several transplant centers in and out of the state.
Dr. Caldera came to Hematology Oncology Associates in 2004 after serving as Chief of Oncology at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Hematology and the American Board of Oncology. He holds professional memberships in American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology. His training includes a medical diploma from the Central University of Venezuela, an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, and a blood and marrow transplantation fellowship at the University of Texas/M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Caldera is equally fluent in both Spanish and English.
Dr. Caldera and his wife have three young children.
